Adopting & Assessing Technology
SAMR Model
As you begin to research new technologies and to adopt new tools, you also need to reflect on how these resources will ultimately be used in the classroom. The SAMR model, which was developed by Dr. Ruben Puentedura, is way for you to evaluate how you are incorporating technology into the curriculum. There are four different stages in the model -- substitution, augmentation, modification, and redefinition. As you learn more about this model, here are some resources to explore: Kathy Schrock's Resources to Support the SAMR Model and Jim Cash's SAMR Examples Prezi.

Idea Exchange
One of the overall goals of this workshop is to provide you with an opportunity to learn from your colleagues and to share practical ideas and tools. Let's consider all of your current work and experience in the classroom. What tools do you absolutely love? What do you recommend to your colleagues? What tools and/or technologies are worth investing in? Please take a few minutes to talk with your school colleagues and to the identify apps, websites, blogs, web 2.0 tools, and more that you value. Write one idea per post-it note and place it under the appropriate category at the front of the room.

Professional Development for Teachers
Don't forget about your teachers! As you are investing time, money, and energy into integrating new tools into the learning environment, you also need to invest in your faculty. You can begin by assessing your faculty's comfortability and knowledge of educational technology. Once you understand the needs of your teachers, you can craft a professional development series. The goal is support teachers' growth and development and to ensure that the adopted tools are successfully integrated into the curriculum.
